I moved into Vela 3 years ago out of convenience. However, it had my 2 main priorities: it's SMOKE FREE and Fairly new! The manager at the time was ok. Then Michael showed up. The day I met him, he Personally walked out to show me my parking spot With a Pep in his Step! Michael has a great team. Isaac takes great care when fixing anything inside the unit and I never felt uncomfortable with him inside my place. They are very prompt at taking care of any issues you come to them with. Victor keeps the whole complex clean, Inside & Out! Michael, Isaac and Victor made Vela feel like Home! I must say I left due to Santee weather. All the guys there were very helpful during my transition. Michael went above and beyond during my move. Without him, I don't know what I would've done. I was a pain in the butt at times, and yet he still treated me better than I deserved. And that Pep.... IT'S STILL THERE! 😁😁

I wanted to leave a 5-star review because I genuinely enjoy living here, and I also think some of the negative reviews about this property are unfair and unrealistic. This is a clean, safe, and well-kept community. Michael in the office has always been professional, positive, and willing to help whenever concerns are actually brought to his attention. He does his best to handle things fairly and without bias, which I appreciate. I also think it is SUPER UNFAIR to blame management for every single issue involving residents’ dogs. This is a pet-friendly apartment community and at some point pet owners need to be responsible for their own pets. Dogs are going to bark during the day, I doubt you can find a pet firendly community that allows dogs and is always dead silent. Also, one person’s opinion of an “aggressive” dog may not be the same as someone else’s. If there is a real issue, residents should report it directly instead of expecting management to magically know everything happening around the property. I have seen management make efforts to keep the property maintained and address concerns, but there is only one person working in the office and he cannot control every resident’s behavior 24/7. Residents also have to be accountable for following the rules, cleaning up after their pets, and being respectful neighbors. In my opinion, some of the complaints online sound more like someone upset because they did not get their way. That does not mean the property is bad or that the office doesn't care. I love living here. The community is peaceful, clean, and feels safe. Michael does the best he can with everything on his plate, and I think he deserves credit for the way he handles residents and the property.

My husband and I lived here Sept 2023-Oct 2025 and absolutely loved it. The location is perfect! Quiet part of Santee, close to the freeways, walking distance to mission trails. The complex itself is constantly being taken care of with landscaping and is always clean. The community manager, Michael, is attentive and strives to make the complex feel like a community. We loved our apartment and all the natural light. Maintenance was also always available when needed. Never had any issues here! The only reason we moved was for our growing family. We miss this place!

I live in Vela apartments for about a year now and it has been the best. The property manager, Michael goes above and beyond for your needs. Disregard the negative reviews in regards of noise. This is not a retirement home/community. People come and go, kids are playing, people are utilizing the amenities, and honestly I would rather have that than a community that is dead quiet by 6PM and complaining that you're watching a movie too loud at 7PM. 10/10 would recommend Vela apartments to friends and family.

I’ve been in property management for about 18 years, and I can honestly say this is the first time I’ve experienced ownership like this. I do both live and work at this community, so I’ve seen things from both perspectives—and what stands out most is how involved and responsive the ownership truly is. A recent example really says it all. Around mid-March, I noticed as a resident that the pool felt unusually cold. Within days, it was confirmed that the heater had failed, and at the same time, calcium buildup was identified that could have become a safety concern if left unaddressed. From the moment ownership was made aware, they moved quickly—coordinating with vendors, approving the necessary work immediately, and staying actively involved throughout the entire process. The pool was drained, fully cleaned, refilled, and the heater replaced. They even took the extra step of ensuring the water chemistry was properly balanced before reopening. The entire process—from discovery to reopening—took about two weeks. In this industry, I’ve seen hot tubs (not even full pools) be down for months due to delays, approvals, and back-and-forth. That was not the case here. There was no unnecessary red tape—just action and follow-through. Another example: after bringing up the need for better gym equipment, ownership approved and had a new commercial-grade bench delivered within a couple of weeks. That level of responsiveness is rare. What stands out most is that ownership genuinely cares—not just about the asset, but about the resident experience. They take pride in the community, they listen, and they act. As both a resident and someone who’s worked in this industry for a long time, that’s something I truly respect and appreciate.

I’ve really enjoyed living here and have had such a positive experience. Michael has been amazing—always friendly, professional, and easy to reach if something comes up. Anytime I’ve had a question or needed help, Michael has taken care of it quickly, which I truly appreciate. My apartment is beautiful, spacious, and very comfortable. It really feels like home. The community itself is peaceful and well maintained, and one of the things I love most is that it’s a pet-friendly community. It’s great being able to live somewhere that welcomes pets and makes it easy for them to be part of the community too. Overall, I’m very happy living here and would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable place with great management and a welcoming atmosphere.

I've had a great experience living at Vela Santee apartments. Since the moment we have toured the facility Michael, the manager, has been friendly, welcoming, responsive, professional, and willing to help with questions and concerns. He made the move in process easy and exciting! The property is well maintained, clean, and has a welcoming atmosphere. The apartment itself is comfortable, quiet, and has everything needed to feel at home. I also appreciate how quickly maintenance requests are handled—it really shows that the staff cares about the residents and the condition of the property. Another highlight is the convenient location, with easy access to nearby shops, freeways, restaurants, and everyday necessities. Overall, it’s been a very positive experience, and I would definitely recommend this apartment community to anyone looking for a comfortable and well-managed place to live.

I really enjoyed living at Vela Apartments. The property was always well-kept, clean and safe. Also shout out to the property manager Michael for being super attentive and available to tenants. The maintenance team was also very responsive and promptly addressed requests. I would have stayed here but had to relocate due to work. Highly recommend this place!
